Tramlines, the region’s premier annual music festival is growing year on year, with the event and its fringe activities, including numerous city centre venues, attracting a combined attendance of 100,000+ visitors.

Sheffield is the outdoor city – with one third sitting within the Peak District National Park, making it one of England’s greenest cities, with walking, fell running, climbing, mountain biking & an array of outdoor pursuits right on the doorstep.

Pound’s Park is just one of the new areas of public realm investment bringing the great outdoors into the city centre, creating green & open space, enhancing inclusion, connectivity & wellbeing.

CULTURAL HERITAGE.

Sheffield has a wealth of leisure facilities, activities, sports, culture & visitor attractions.

Sheffield is the first National City of Sport, with a range of high-quality training centres & facilities, as well as an Olympic legacy venue (the only city to achieve this without hosting the games). The world’s oldest football club, Sheffield FC, has recently celebrated its 150th anniversary, as well as Sheffield United & Sheffield Wednesday. The World Snooker Championships have been held in the city’s Crucible Theatre since 1977, bringing millions of pounds of revenue to the city every year, along with a global audience of over 285 million.

A flourishing cultural & creative industries sector accounts for 7.2% of Sheffield’s working population, almost double the national average. The Crucible, Lyceum & Playhouse make up Sheffield Theatres, the largest producing theatre complex outside London, attracting over 350,000 people to the city centre every year. International documentary & literary festivals - Doc Fest & Off the Shelf, further enhance cultural reputation.

A key component of Heart of the City’s cultural & social emphasis has protected & restored Grade II listed independent retail, studio & maker spaces in Leah’s Yard, creating a revived cultural heart.
